About the Position
We are hiring a 3D Character Artist on a freelance/contract basis. You will need to solve a wide range of problems with well-rounded experience across multiple disciplines, with specialization in Character production workflow. You thrive on collaboration and report to the Lead Artist to work as a team towards the monthly content pushes and milestones. You have a natural curiosity for all parts of the creative pipeline, and invest time improving your skills.
This is a fully remote, project-based engagement: scope, deliverables, timelines, and rates are defined per work order. It is not a full-time employment position.
Responsibilities

Delivering Excellence
- Works efficiently and effectively within the technical constraints of production
- Generates high-quality art work that matches or exceeds studio standards

Communication
- Keep the Lead Artist up to date regarding status of tasks at all times
- Obtain the Lead Artist's guidance and approval as needed on tasks, project initiatives and milestones
- Proactively schedule own time as necessary, notify Managers and Lead Artists in advance of upcoming roadblocks and challenges

Team and Personal Development
- Consistently refine one’s own artistic abilities and learn new software packages and in-house tools
- Contribute and help build a positive team environment
Requirements

Core Skills
- Full proficiency in software packages and tools of the games industry listed below
- 3ds Max/Maya
- Substance Painter
- Zbrush
- Photoshop
- PBR workflow
- Intermediate proficiency in the following tools:
- Unreal Engine Character Setup
- Unreal Engine Rendering (Lighting, Rendering)
- Highly proficient in one of the following disciplines and/or intermediate in all of them
- Human Anatomy
- Creature Anatomy
- Hard Surface Modeling
- Cloth Sculpting or Simulation
- Full proficiency in software packages and tools of the games industry listed below

Additional Skills
- Surface knowledge on the following softwares and tools
- Blender
- Proficiency in Game Engine technologies such as Unreal with asset integration
- Experience with the game art asset pipeline, i.e. highpoly and efficient game ready lowpoly modelling, texturing and baking.
- Passion for game development.
- Surface knowledge on the following softwares and tools
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with other game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.)
- Capable of working in other art disciplines (Concept Art, Rig, Animation, VFX, etc).
Deliverables Expectations
Freelancers/Contractors will be measured according to the metric below:
- On-time delivery of project deliverables
- Outcomes delivered as per project specifications, consistently
- Time spent on an outcome is within project or budgeted mandays
