3D Generalist / Technical Artist

About the Position

As a Technical Artist with strong 3D Generalist skills, you will play a key role in bridging art and technology, helping build high-quality optimized 3D content for immersive XR/VR experiences. You will work across multiple stages of the 3D production pipeline, combining hands-on 3D content creation - modeling, texturing, and asset preparation - with technical implementation inside Unity, shader development, and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Model, texture, and optimize high-quality 3D assets including characters, props, and environments, ensuring visual quality while maintaining performance constraints for mobile VR platforms.
• Build and maintain character pipelines including character setup, rigging, skinning, and preparing assets for animation and in-engine implementation.
• Create character rigs, support facial rigs where needed, and work with animation assets to ensure smooth character movement and proper in-engine behavior.
• Import, set up, and integrate 3D assets into Unity while maintaining efficient workflows between DCC tools and engine implementation.
• Create and optimize custom shaders and materials inside Unity, with a strong focus on performance optimization for mobile VR devices.
• Optimize assets, materials, shaders, textures, and scenes to meet performance requirements for mobile VR platforms and standalone headsets.
• Identify and solve technical challenges related to asset pipelines, rendering, shader behavior, animation systems, and runtime performance.
• Help improve internal workflows and develop efficient pipelines between art production and technical implementation.
• Work closely with developers, artists, and production teams to deliver immersive real-time experiences.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technical Artist, 3D Generalist, 3D Technical Artist, or similar role.
• Strong proficiency with 3D software such as Blender, Maya, or similar DCC tools, including modeling, texturing, and UV workflows.
• Experience in character creation workflows including rigging, skinning, and animation setup.
• Strong understanding of real-time rendering pipelines.
• Hands-on experience working with Unity engine.
• Experience creating and optimizing shaders in Unity (Shader Graph and/or custom shader development).
• Strong understanding of optimization techniques for mobile and VR applications.
• Experience integrating and troubleshooting 3D assets inside game engines.
• Understanding of materials, lighting, rendering, and asset optimization workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and technical mindset.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both engineering and art teams.
• Portfolio demonstrating both technical and artistic work, including 3D modeling and texturing examples.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of animation systems.
• Experience with VFX and particle systems.
• Experience working on immersive applications, XR, AR/VR, or real-time interactive projects.
