Adjunct Instructor-English

About the Position

Join New River Community and Technical College as an Adjunct Instructor-English, teaching a range of courses remotely and contributing to the community's education.

Responsibilities

• Provide lecture and enhanced writing lab education through synchronous and asynchronous distance learning.
• Teach a full range of English courses, including Composition I, Research, Technical Writing, and Literature.
• Design courses in D2L Brightspace.
• Meet classes as scheduled.
• Evaluate student work and maintain accurate records of students’ academic standing.
• Provide students with constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback in a timely manner.
• Evaluate student performance weekly, at mid-term, and at the end of the semester using the appropriate course evaluation tool.
• Respect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or releasing such information except within recognized limits.
• Demonstrate integrity and positive interpersonal and communication skills.
• Communicate and collaborate with faculty mentor or department chair.
• Use common assessment tracking and report the tracking results on time to the department chair.
• Accurately complete course assessments and submit them within department timelines.
• Provide the course evaluation at the end of each semester and encourage completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in English or a closely related discipline.
• Master's Degree in English or a closely related discipline with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in the subject area from a regionally accredited institution.
• Two years teaching experience in higher education (Preferred).
• Experience utilizing technology including Microsoft Word and other software programs.
• Experience teaching over an Interactive Video (Preferred).
• Teaching Dual Enrollment (Preferred).
