About the Position
Adviser on Gender Issues (S)
The OSCE Secretariat in Vienna is seeking a skilled Adviser on Gender Issues to focus on mainstreaming gender in economic and environmental security. This position is open for secondment only, and participating States are reminded that all costs related to the assignment must be borne by their authorities.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Senior Adviser on Gender Issues, the selected candidate will:
- Provide knowledge and expertise to departments on integrating a gender perspective in their programs and projects, especially in economic and environmental affairs.
- Offer technical expertise and inputs on priority issues of gender mainstreaming, focusing on economic and environmental issues.
- Draft briefings, proposals, and reports related to the promotion of gender equality in the second dimension.
- Advise departments, field operations, and institutions on designing and implementing projects that promote the inclusion of a gender perspective.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A second-level university degree in gender studies, international relations, political sciences, economics, environmental sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years (seven years with a relevant first-level university degree) of professional experience in gender issues, human rights, economic, or environmental issues.
- Solid experience in programme management in bi- or multi-lateral development organizations, including field operations.
- Solid knowledge and awareness of international texts and conventions related to gender equality.
- Proven ability to analyze and evaluate critical matters in the field of gender equality and design strategies to address them.
- Excellent drafting skills in English.
- Professional fluency in English with excellent communication skills; knowledge of Russian is an asset.
- Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity.
- Ability and willingness to work as a member of a team with people of different cultural, religious backgrounds, genders, and political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
- Computer literacy with practical experience using Microsoft applications.

About the Company
The Office of the Secretary General (OSG) plays a key role in supporting the Secretary General in the effective implementation of his/her mandate and specific tasks given by the OSCE participating States. The OSG ensures effective coordination of policy advice provided to the Secretary General and the Chairpersonship, and management decisions taken by the Secretary General.
