About the Position
We are looking for an AI Engineer to join our KYC Case team in Front & Advisory at Tieto Banktech. Tieto Banktech powers some of the Nordics’ most trusted banking systems with secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. Using automation, data, AI, and cloud, supported by hands-on guidance, we help banks modernize their core, strengthen trust, and deliver greater impact across the banking experience.
This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong backend focus. You will help us design, build and operate cloud services, APIs and integrations behind our banking services.
Responsibilities
- Work in a cross-functional autonomous team with ownership of a well-defined domain
- Identify where AI can create real value in banking products and engineering practices
- Shape practical patterns, architectures and best practices for secure and reliable AI-enabled solutions
- Use AI-assisted workflows to understand, analyze and modernize existing technology
- Help teams evaluate new tools and adopt AI-supported workflows across development, testing and operations
- Take solutions from prototype to production, including architecture, integration, testing and operational readiness
- Continuously improve solutions with a focus on quality, security, performance, reliability, observability and cost
Requirements
- Software development: Minimum five years of experience developing and operating production software.
- Data analysis and applied AI: Experience analyzing and interpreting data, identifying meaningful patterns and opportunities, and applying machine learning and AI technologies to create practical business value.
- Backend engineering: Experience with object-oriented development, APIs, integrations and scalable service architectures.
- CI/CD and operations: Experience with automated delivery, monitoring, observability and production troubleshooting.
- Security and privacy: Experience with secure data handling and the responsible use of AI in regulated environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Java and Spring or Spring Boot
- Experience with databases (Oracle)
- Experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes, Git, GitHub Actions and Grafana
- Experience with design, development and maintenance of backend services, APIs and integrations
- Experience with large language model integration, context and prompt design, and evaluation of AI outputs
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases or related retrieval patterns
- Experience with agentic workflows, function calling or AI orchestration frameworks
