Under the direction of the laboratory manager, the TDY Microbiologist is responsible for performing laboratory tests, quality control procedures, and communication with physicians, nurses, and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures.
• Communicate with physicians, nurses, and patients.
• Work independently and provide direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related field.
• Board eligibility by NCA or ASCP.
• Complete board certification within one year of employment.
• One to three years of related or progressively more responsible experience in microbiology.
• Certification at MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) within one year of employment.
• Clinical laboratory instrumentation experience.
• Must be capable of working independently.
