About the Position
Associate Project Officer (Security) (P2)
The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) is seeking an Associate Project Officer (Security) (P2) to join their team in Warsaw. This is an extra-budgetary position with an initial contract for one year, renewable until the project ends, expected to last until March 2028.
Responsibilities
The Associate Project Officer will contribute to achieving Pathway 3 of the project, focusing on Security and Hate Crime, by:
- Planning and implementing project activities to strengthen effective and collaborative responses to hate crimes and the security needs of at-risk communities.
- Organizing capacity-building events, diagnostic workshops, and community security events with the participation of criminal justice actors, civil society organizations, national authorities, and at-risk communities.
- Supporting the development of thematic papers and guidance notes on addressing hate crime and providing support to hate crime victims.
- Supporting stakeholder coordination by organizing meetings, workshops, and consultations with relevant partners.
- Preparing and maintaining substantive project documentation by drafting concept notes, background papers, agendas, and terms of reference for experts.
Requirements
- Minimum first-level university degree in human rights, international relations, development studies, or education.
- At least 4 years (2 years with a relevant second-level university degree) of relevant professional experience in the field of human rights, anti-discrimination, and/or hate crime/security.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and developing projects, particularly donor-funded projects.
- Proven experience of organizing training workshops and supporting the training of criminal justice and civil society actors.
- Proven experience of working with state authorities and representatives of diverse communities.
- Understanding of hate crime and the impact on individuals, communities, and societies.
- Excellent analytical, drafting, and research skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, under time pressure, and with tight deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
- Gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of other official OSCE languages would be an asset.
- Ability to operate Windows applications, including Microsoft Office software.
We Offer
- Monthly remuneration is approximately EUR 5,600 depending on post adjustment and family status.
- OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in Poland.
- Social benefits include participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
- The Organization contributes an amount equivalent to 15% of the employee's salary to this Fund, and the employee contributes 7.5%.
- Other allowances and benefits are similar to those offered under the United Nations Common System.
