Atlassian Developer (Jira Cloud Forge Specialist)

We are seeking a highly experienced and product-focused Atlassian Developer specializing in Jira Cloud Forge. This is a dedicated development role centered on building, securing, and scaling complex custom applications and integrations that extend the core capabilities of Jira Cloud for enterprise use. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who can immediately contribute to the architecture, design, and implementation of new business solutions.

Note: This position requires deep, proven expertise in the Forge development framework and is not suited for developers without direct experience or Jira administrators seeking a development transition.

Responsibilities

• Forge Application Development & Architecture

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure Jira Cloud applications using the Atlassian Forge framework and APIs.
  • Architect and implement native Forge modules, including Custom UI/React components, Global Pages, Contextual Gadgets/Panels, Custom Fields, and advanced Workflow Validators/Post-Functions.
  • Utilize Forge platform primitives, including Forge Storage, Custom Fetch, Web Triggers, Resolvers, Queues, and Event-Driven Functions to handle complex, asynchronous business logic.
  • Apply best-practice secure coding standards and scalable API design principles to all application development.

• Integration & Platform Expertise

  • Integrate Jira Cloud with external SaaS platforms and internal services using the Jira REST APIs and secure outbound connections via Forge.
  • Develop custom business logic, validation rules, and workflow extensions that meet specific organizational requirements.
  • Provide advanced technical support and performance tuning for custom Jira Cloud applications, configurations, and integrations.

• Collaboration & Delivery

  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and ensure alignment with strategic business objectives.
  • Document technical designs, deployment procedures, and testing plans for all custom solutions.

Requirements

• Required Technical Expertise

  • Forge Mastery: Proven, hands-on experience in architecting and deploying multiple Jira Cloud applications using the Atlassian Forge framework.
  • Core Languages: Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.
  • Frontend: Deep experience building interfaces using React (Custom UI) or the Forge UI Kit.
  • Platform Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Jira Cloud platform, including the configuration layer (Issue Types, Screens, Field Contexts, Workflow Schemes, and advanced Permissions).
  • APIs & Data: Strong familiarity with the Jira Cloud REST APIs and leveraging data effectively within Forge applications.
  • Architecture: Solid knowledge of Forge authentication mechanisms, asynchronous processing, and event handling within the Atlassian platform ecosystem.
  • Quality: Ability to design, implement, and test performant, maintainable, and reusable code solutions.

• Preferred Attributes (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with legacy scripting in Server/Data Center (e.g., Groovy/ScriptRunner, Power Scripts/SIL) to support migration or comparative analysis.
  • Familiarity with Jira Expressions for dynamic condition and validation logic.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for understanding data structures and supporting external reporting efforts.
  • Familiarity with modern deployment practices (CI/CD, version control via Git).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field; a master’s degree is a plus.
• Proven experience managing technical projects especially in BFSI domain and preferably in Talent environments.
• Strong understanding of Data Processing and ETL Process.
• Experience with Agile or Scrum project management methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

• Follow change management processes to address scope changes and project adjustments.
• Ensure all changes are documented, approved, and communicated effectively.

We Offer

• Location: United States - Dallas TX, Overland Park KS, San Jose CA
• Work Model: Hybrid
• Salary: $105,000 to $115,000 per year (base salary only)
