Aviation Safety Inspector (Aircraft Dispatch)

About the Position

As an Aviation Safety Inspector (Aircraft Dispatch), you will ensure compliance with regulations by monitoring dispatch centers and training facilities, providing expertise on policies and agency orders, and investigating incidents. You will also help certify new airlines and conduct regular observations for continuous compliance through a planned surveillance and inspection program.

Requirements

Basic Requirements

• Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal Aviation Regulations violations in the last five years
• Valid State driver’s license
• Fluency in the English language
• No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance
• High school graduate or equivalent

Specialized Experience Requirements

• Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate
• Recency of experience: A portion of the applicant’s specialized experience must have been gained within the last three years.
• FG-12 or equivalent grade level/pay band: At least two years of experience as a part 121 scheduled domestic and/or scheduled international (flag) dispatcher, and at least one year of experience in at least one of the following positions:
  • Air Transportation Supervisor (ATS)
  • Designated Aircraft Dispatcher Examiner (DADE)
  • An Aircraft Dispatcher with primary responsibility for developing, creating, and/or revising dispatch manuals and procedures which require a comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulatory requirements and current FAA policy for a Part 121 Air Carrier
  • A Dispatch Instructor for a Part 121 Air Carrier

Medical Requirements

Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviation Safety Inspector (Aircraft Dispatch) position in a safe and efficient manner, with or without a reasonable accommodation. The minimum medical requirements include the following:

• Have good distant vision in each eye and be able to read, without strain, printed materials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted)
• Have the ability to hear the conversational voice (hearing aid permitted)
• Not have any physical condition that would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others that would interfere with their ability to fly as passengers in a variety of aircraft.
