Back-end Developer

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Back-end Developer with over 10 years of experience in Ruby on Rails to join our team in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby on Rails code.
• Integrate APIs with third-party service providers.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge across the team.
• Contribute to creating automated test suites to ensure the quality of the product.
• Lead and mentor junior developers.
• Participate in architectural discussions and decisions by collaborating closely with product management to define feature specifications and build the next generation of products.
• Maintain and improve existing software by monitoring, tuning, diagnosing, and fixing performance issues in multitiered system environments.
• Provide estimates for development tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Contribute to the improvement of development processes and methodologies.

Requirements

• 13 years of experience in web and application development.
• Expertise in Ruby on Rails.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience with REST APIs and object-oriented design.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with Heroku, MacOS, Linux, Slack, and Zoom.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Redis and Memcached.
• Knowledge of React.js.
• Open-source contributions.
