ELEKS Software Engineering and Development Office is looking for a Backend Developer with FHIR experience in Argentina.

Our customer is among the top 5 health insurance companies in the US. The company serves over 15 million members across five states and employs over 20,000 people.

About the Role

We are looking for a senior backend developer with 6-10 years of experience, with solid software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience building FHIR-compliant APIs and integration solutions in a healthcare context.

Requirements

FHIR R4 - designing, building, and consuming FHIR APIs (not just familiarity; actual delivery)
HL7 standards (v2.x at minimum, CDA/CCD is a plus)
RESTful API development - building and integrating with external systems
JSON/XML data modeling in healthcare contexts
OAuth2 / HIPAA-aware security practices
Agile/Scrum delivery, sprint ceremonies, Jira
Azure (Azure Functions, Azure API Management, Azure FHIR Services / Azure Health Data Services)
Microservices architecture
Experience at a health insurance company, EHR vendor, or health IT integrator
Exposure to payer-side data flows (claims, member data, provider directories)

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java or C#
Build, enhance, and support FHIR R4-compliant APIs and healthcare interoperability solutions
Design, implement, and integrate RESTful APIs with internal and external healthcare systems
Develop and maintain integrations based on HL7 standards, including HL7 v2.x and FHIR (CDA/CCD is a plus)
Design and implement healthcare data models using JSON and XML
Ensure secure API design and implementation following OAuth2 authentication and HIPAA security best practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
Contribute to the design and evolution of microservices-based backend architecture
Develop and support cloud-native solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Functions, Azure API Management, and Azure Health Data Services, where applicable
Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance the performance, scalability, and reliability of backend services
Collaborate closely with architects, product owners, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality healthcare integration solutions
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions while promoting engineering best practices
Support healthcare data exchange scenarios involving member, provider, and claims-related information across enterprise systems
