Backend Engineer

About the Position

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our dynamic startup team. This is a remote part-time role (10-20 hours per week) with the potential to transition to full-time. The role involves developing and managing web applications, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines to enhance our product experience for end-users.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage web applications, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain production back-end code using NodeJS and ES6.
• Design, implement, test, and support production APIs.
• Work with multiple persistence layers and understand their strengths and weaknesses.
• Design, build, deliver to, and manage cloud production infrastructure (GCP/AWS preferred).
• Ship code in a CI/CD environment.
• Collaborate with small teams, focusing on flexibility and iterative product development.
• Understand and integrate with frontend systems and APIs.

Requirements

• 2+ years in back-end software development.
• Experience with NodeJS, ES6, Express/Koa.
• Experience with storage/persistence layers, preferably MongoDB.
• Cloud deployment experience: AWS/GCP/Heroku, microservice and/or serverless architectures.
• Knowledge of security layers such as JWT, OAuth.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools for issue management, VCS, deployment, and collaboration.

Nice to Have

• Experience with K8S, Docker.
• Experience with Typescript, Python, GraphQL.
• Experience with React/Redux, ES6, Typescript, GraphQL, CSS3.
