About the Position

Hexa is building the next generation of sales tools - fast, focused, and powered by AI. Our mission is to help teams sell smarter, follow up faster, and stay focused on what actually closes deals. We don’t ship bloat. We ship clarity. We’re a lean, async-first team that values sharp thinking, fast execution, and real outcomes over corporate playbooks. Backed by real workflows, not just dashboards.

As a Backend Engineer – AI & Data Infrastructure, you’ll help us scale our AI features, optimize data pipelines, and ensure the system is lean, reliable, and lightning fast.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain backend services and APIs (Node/Python/Postgres)
  • Work closely with AI/ML engineers to productionize AI features
  • Design data ingestion, transformation, and storage pipelines
  • Optimize performance, caching, and database structure
  • Ensure high availability and security across all endpoints
  • Collaborate with frontend and product teams to scope & ship features

Requirements

  • 3+ years of backend experience in production environments
  • Strong knowledge of Node.js, Python, Postgres or similar stacks
  • Experience with cloud infra (e.g. Vercel, AWS, Supabase)
  • Familiarity with authentication, RBAC, API design
  • Comfortable working async and independently
  • Understand basic AI workflows (OpenAI, vector stores, embeddings)

Nice to Have

  • Built systems that support real-time or large-scale data
  • Experience with job queues, webhooks, and rate limiting
  • Understanding of ETL pipelines or analytics infra
  • Interest in AI ops, prompt pipelines, or observability tools

We Offer

  • Fully remote (EU time zone preferred)
  • Transparent salary + optional equity
  • Hardware + learning budget
  • Minimal meetings, async communication
  • Ship fast, fix fast, learn fast

About the Company

Hexa helps modern sales teams move faster by automating follow-ups, forecasting pipeline, and summarising meetings with clarity. We are a lean, async-first team that values sharp thinking, fast execution, and real outcomes over corporate playbooks.

Our Hiring Process

We keep our hiring thoughtful, structured, and adapted to the type of role. Whether you’re applying for a full-time position or a short-term freelance project, you’ll always know where you stand - and we’ll never ghost you.

Full-Time & Long-Term Roles

  1. Application Review
  • We read every application carefully. We're looking for alignment with the role, clarity in communication, and thoughtful signals - not just a fancy resume.
  1. Intro Call (30 mins)
  • A casual conversation with a team lead or founder. We’ll discuss your background, what excites you, and your expectations. No prep required.
  1. Technical / Design Task (Optional by role)
  • If relevant, we’ll share a short async task (2–3 hrs max) that reflects the actual work. No whiteboarding, no trick questions. For design roles, we might ask for a small UI improvement or UX suggestion.
  1. Deep Dive Interview (60–75 mins)
  • We’ll go in-depth on how you think, communicate, and work. This may involve live problem-solving, talking through past work, or collaborative critique - always with clear guidance.
  1. Culture & Alignment Chat
  • A brief conversation with someone outside the immediate team. We focus on values, async fit, communication style, and expectations from both sides.
  1. Offer or Feedback
  • We move fast. You'll receive either a detailed offer or clear feedback - usually within 48–72 hours of your last interview.

Freelance / Short-Term Roles

  1. Application or Referral
  • We often source these roles directly, but you’re welcome to apply proactively.
  1. Quick Scope Call (20–30 mins)
  • We define scope, timeline, rate expectations, and mutual fit.
  1. Trial Task or Paid Pilot
  • For some freelance roles, we may offer a small paid task or initial pilot before full engagement.
  1. Agreement & Start
  • Once terms are clear, we move into a short contract or statement of work. You'll be onboarded async.
