Tech Stack
Job Description, Responsibilities & Requirements
About the Position
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Technical team of a San Francisco-based AI fashion-tech company’s Client that builds photorealistic AI virtual try-on, AI sizing prediction, and personalized outfit-recommendation technology, sold B2B to fashion/retail brands. We build the integration and infrastructure layer that connects the platform to the systems our brand partners already use, including major CRM, marketplace, and e-commerce platforms.
Your work will directly determine how easily fashion and retail brands can adopt AI-powered try-on and recommendation experiences at scale. You’ll build the reliable, well-designed APIs and services that make ML models usable in the real world.
Responsibilities
- Design and build REST APIs and backend services that power our platform’s integration and infrastructure surfaces
- Implement OAuth and webhook-based integrations connecting our platform to third-party commerce and CRM systems (e.g., major CRM platforms, marketplace seller APIs, e-commerce app ecosystems)
- Own schema design and query performance for PostgreSQL-backed services as the platform scales
- Build and operate serverless AWS components (Lambda, SQS, SES, API Gateway) that keep integrations resilient and fast
- Work as a full member of the engineering team - same standups, same code review process, same accountability as an internal engineer
- Maintain at least 4 hours/day of overlap with US Pacific working hours to collaborate in real time with the team
Requirements
Must have:
- 5 years of production experience with Python (FastAPI) and/or Node.js/TypeScript
- Strong grasp of REST API design, third-party integration patterns, OAuth, and webhooks
- Hands-on PostgreSQL experience, including schema design and query optimization
- Working knowledge of a serverless-first AWS stack (Lambda, SQS, SES, API Gateway)
- Fluent English and comfort working embedded within a fast-paced, US-based startup team under its technical leadership
Good to have:
- Experience with major CRM platform APIs (e.g., Salesforce)
- Experience with marketplace seller APIs (e.g., Amazon SP-API)
- Experience building within e-commerce app ecosystems (e.g., Shopify)
