About the Position

We are seeking a Backend Engineering Team Lead to join our team in London, Manchester, or Bath (UK). This role is pivotal in establishing and leading a new backend team responsible for several key Netcraft products, including the Integration Layer, NSI, Web and SSL Server Survey, and Spam.

Responsibilities

Establish and lead a new backend team responsible for key Netcraft products.
Collaborate with Product and Design colleagues to evaluate and improve products.
Manage requirements from key stakeholders and customers.
Prioritize, refine, and sequence the team’s workflow.
Uphold high engineering standards with a commitment to code quality and a test-driven approach.
Build and lead a high-performing team of talented engineers.

Requirements

Strong and demonstrable leadership skills.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to distill technical concepts for a range of stakeholders.
A strong engineering background spanning a range of technologies.
Demonstrable track record of identifying opportunities to create significant value within existing products.
Experience partnering closely with Product Managers and Product Owners.
Experience working with AWS technologies and a range of machine learning tools and frameworks.
Experience interviewing and hiring engineers, building effective teams, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Nice to Have

Strong Go development skills, particularly in technology modernisation or uplift projects.
OpenSearch, MongoDB, and Perl experience.
Experience with generative AI technologies.
Practical experience managing engineers at different career stages.
