Backend Kotlin Developer

Sphere Partners has partnered with a cutting-edge insuretech company that aims to disrupt the existing legacy industry. The company uses powerful technology to offer everyday drivers better coverage for less money. Now we are looking for a Kotlin Developer to join our team.

Position: Full-time (Remote)

Term: Long-term

Timezone: Until 3 PM Chicago Time Zone

If you are an experienced Senior Kotlin Developer (+React) with a passion for building scalable and efficient server-side solutions, we encourage you to apply and contribute to our dynamic and innovative development team at Sphere Partners.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain efficient, reusable, and scalable server-side code using Kotlin, TypeScript (for backend development) and requires handling a complex central codebase;
• Support production applications including on-call responsibilities;
• Develop robust and secure RESTful APIs;
• Help improve, expand, and maintain our acquisition, applicant, and customer APIs;
• Design and implement database schemas with a focus on data consistency, integrity, and optimization;
• Optimize and maintain database performance for high-volume applications;
• Work with the engineering and product team to help bring the features on our ambitious roadmap to life for our customers.

Requirements

• Experience as a backend developer with a focus on Kotlin;
• Experience with TypeScript as a backend developer;
• Experience with React (at least 6 months) - will be a plus;
• Experience with database systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc);
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and continuous integration tools;
• Experience with GitHub copilot or Gemini;
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP);
• Understanding of microservices architecture and its implementation.
