About the Position
We're looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join our EBICS Payment Platform team at ING Hubs Romania. This role focuses on mission-critical banking infrastructure, where understanding why payments work the way they do matters as much as knowing how to code them. If you're curious about business domains, comfortable with payments terminology, and want to grow from coder into a system thinker, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities
- Build backend services for EBICS payment workflows using Python/Bash/Golang.
- Design APIs that solve real payment problems.
- Understand and implement payment flows: authorization, clearing, settlement, reconciliation.
- Own deployment of your services via Azure DevOps pipelines and Ansible playbooks.
- Learn Axway integration for secure message transport in banking.
- Collaborate with ops and security teams on reliability and compliance.
- Debug production issues in a financial system where availability is non-negotiable.
- Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
Requirements
- Strong in: Python, Bash, Golang
- Comfortable with: Oracle Databases, REST APIs, Linux
- Familiar with: Git, Unit/Functional Testing, Release Processes
- Experience with: Ansible, CI/CD Workflow
- Basic understanding of: Azure DevOps and/or Jenkins
Nice to Have
- Professional experience with EBICS, SWIFT, or payments
- Knowledge of Axway
- Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions/Gitlab Pipelines Experience
