Backend Software Engineer (Java and Kotlin)

We are currently looking for a Backend Software Engineer (Java and Kotlin) to join our team in Poland. You will be part of a team delivering modern applications, data platforms, and AI solutions for clients such as Millennium, ING, Play, Edenred, Arabian Drilling, FedEx, Leroy Merlin, Truecaller, Volotea, Schmitz Cargobull, and many more.

Responsibilities

• Developing and enhancing scalable backend services for a specialized automotive marketplace.
• Designing and developing microservices and REST APIs supporting key customer journeys.
• Designing new modules and improving existing platform components.
• Collaborating closely with Product Managers, Data Analysts, and UX Designers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Ensuring high standards of code quality, testing, maintainability, and engineering best practices.
• Using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or OpenCode to support software delivery.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Kotlin.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
• Practical experience designing and developing microservices architectures.
• Experience building and maintaining backend services and REST APIs.
• Strong focus on code quality, testing, and engineering best practices.
• Ability to design new modules and improve existing systems.
• Practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality, or decision-making in software delivery.
• Ability to work effectively with Product, Data, and UX teams.
• Polish and English at B2 level.
• Openness to occasional visits to the Warsaw office (1-2 days per quarter).

Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.

Nice to Have

• Experience with MongoDB and Spring Data MongoDB.
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Basic knowledge of frontend or mobile development, such as Web, iOS, or Android.
• Experience applying GenAI in a more structured way within the SDLC, including defined workflows, prompt patterns, or tool integrations embedded into daily work.
• Interest in and familiarity with emerging AI-driven practices (e.g. agent-based workflows, automation patterns, AI-augmented development), with a willingness to explore and experiment beyond standard approaches.
