Background Screener

About the Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Background Screener to join our growing team and make a real impact. RentPrep is a national tenant screening company with 17 years of experience providing accurate, reliable background checks. We are a technology-driven, e-commerce-based company in Buffalo, NY. Our mission is to help clients protect their communities and investments by delivering high-quality screening services.

Responsibilities

• Process comprehensive tenant and applicant background checks, including criminal, credit, evictions, etc.
• Review results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Communicate results professionally with clients and internal teams.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve discrepancies or complex cases.
• Identify opportunities to improve screening processes, workflows, and turnaround times.
• Support nights and weekend coverage as required by business needs.

Qualifications

We welcome applicants with no prior screening experience who meet the following criteria:

• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Excellent phone and people skills.
• Highly detail-oriented and organized.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work weekends.

Location

This position is classified as onsite, and this person must be located or willing to travel daily to 1821 Como Park Blvd, Lancaster, NY 14086.

Compensation

$19.00 per hour

Pay Transparency

Our compensation reflects several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position represents the expected salary for this position. Ultimately, in determining your pay it will be based on several factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other job-related factors. Roofstock is a total compensation company; the base salary is only a part of our total compensation package.
