About the Position
We are seeking a Backup Engineer to join our IT team in Kyiv, Ukraine. As a Backup Engineer, you will be responsible for managing backup systems, ensuring data recovery, and developing disaster recovery plans.
Responsibilities
- Administration and support of enterprise-level backup and data recovery systems.
- Compliance and updating of backup policies according to internal policies.
- Monitoring the success of backup/job processes and promptly resolving errors.
- Developing Disaster Recovery plans.
- Conducting tests of data recovery procedures to ensure the effectiveness of disaster recovery scenarios.
- Updating RTO/RPO based on conducted tests.
- Optimizing the performance and resource usage of backup systems, storage, and network infrastructure.
- Planning and implementing updates, migrations, and modernization of backup and data archiving systems.
- Ensuring compliance with information security requirements, SLAs, and corporate standards in backup/recovery processes.
Requirements
- Experience with server operating systems, services, virtualization systems, and monitoring systems: Windows Server, Linux Server, Kubernetes, VMWare, Zabbix.
- Practical experience with enterprise backup solutions: a. Veeam B&R (in connection with virtualization systems, databases, failover clusters) – mandatory b. Veeam B&R (Setting up and implementing virtual labs for automatic backup testing) – mandatory.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and supporting disaster recovery plans (Disaster Recovery Plan) for critical IT systems and services.
- Experience in analyzing and determining RPO/RTO metrics for business services.
- Experience in organizing and conducting DRP tests, including failover/failback scenarios.
- Experience in interacting with infrastructure, information security, and business units during the creation of DR strategies.

A Backup Engineer is urgently needed for the team to organize and implement the administration, support, and improvement of the backup system in the company.
Specifically, this will be the first engineer in this direction. Later, it is planned to hire another engineer to assist. In total, the infrastructure team in the department is planned to have 18 specialists.
