Responsibilities

As a Business Analyst, you will play a key role in shaping, testing, and aligning our sanction screening systems and models with client policies, risk standards, and compliance procedures. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of your features – from defining the requirements and guiding the implementation to monitoring the performance and reporting the results. You will be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on analyst, capable of translating complex business needs into clear and actionable tasks for your squad.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Specifying business and technical requirements through interviews, workshops, demos, and collaboration
  • Defining clear and testable acceptance criteria for features and epics
  • Prioritizing and distinguishing between global 'must-haves' and 'nice-to-haves' to ensure the integrity of global standards
  • Analyzing and evaluating sanction screening algorithms, rules, and thresholds, and recommending improvements
  • Working closely with Product Owners to align backlog refinement and squad priorities
  • Clearly communicating technical concepts and solutions to international stakeholders
  • Ensuring that all solutions comply with internal policies, standards, and regulations
  • Conducting data analysis and mapping; proposing solutions for data quality issues
  • Encouraging a feedback culture and maintaining a proactive, solution-oriented attitude

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2.5 years of relevant work experience as a business analyst, preferably in the financial sector
  • Experience with Sanction Screening or broader FEC domains is highly desirable (but not mandatory)
  • Familiarity with risk and compliance architecture, including tools such as Inform RiskShield, Python, Databricks
  • Proficiency in data analysis: capable of performing data lineage analyses, quality assessments, and privacy reviews
  • Experience with model testing, risk standards, and reporting to regulators
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders such as Compliance, IT, and Business Operations
  • Strong functional understanding of enterprise IT landscapes
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, DevOps, Lean, or SAFe methodologies

Personal Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work both strategically and in detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • High level of documentation and reporting skills – accurate, substantiated, and audit-ready
  • Independent and organized, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously

We Offer

  • A fixed contract and a gross monthly salary between €3,000 and €6,000 based on a full-time employment (40 hours per week)
  • Equal pay for equal work: We determine your salary based on objective criteria such as experience, knowledge, competencies, and responsibilities, ensuring a fair and transparent compensation that matches your background and the impact of your role
  • Vacation allowance of 8%
  • A profit-sharing scheme with a target payout of 8% of the gross (part-time) annual salary, depending on company results
  • A mobility scheme with the choice of an electric lease car or an alternative transport arrangement, tailored to your situation
  • 27 vacation days, with the option to buy or sell additional days above the statutory limit
  • Flexible hybrid working conditions: home, office, or client site, depending on the role and project possibilities
  • A home office package including a laptop, telephone, and a monthly internet allowance
  • Numerous opportunities for professional and personal development through training, certifications, knowledge sessions, and inspiring events
  • Various social activities with colleagues, from informal gatherings to sports and educational events
  • Options for tax-efficient repayment of your student loans
  • An extensive range of benefits through our cafeteria model, including a bicycle scheme, sports subscriptions, solar panels, and group insurance
  • A pension scheme with an employer contribution and the option to voluntarily build additional pension savings

About the Company

At Sopra Steria – Financial Economic Crime (FEC), we provide banks and financial institutions with digital tools to manage risks, protect customers, and limit the impact of financial economic crime. As gatekeepers of the financial system, banks play a crucial role in protecting our economy from criminal interference. Therefore, financial institutions are subject to increasingly stringent regulations and oversight. At the same time, global economic instability and increasingly sophisticated, technology-driven financial crime make the work of banks more challenging.

Some figures: It is estimated that €16 billion in criminal money is laundered annually in the Netherlands. Less than 1% of the criminal money flows that pass through the global banking system are actually stopped. Therefore, banks must radically change their approach in the fight against FEC. Fortunately, there are tactical changes that banks can quickly implement to reduce the impact of financial economic crime.

At Sopra Steria, we ensure that you can enjoy your work and maintain a work-life balance. That's why we offer an attractive and flexible package of employment conditions:

Sopra Steria is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to age, ancestry, national origin, race, color, leave for family or medical care, gender identity or expression, genetic information, immigration status, marital status, medical condition, national origin, physical or mental disability, political affiliation, protected veteran or military status, race, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable local laws, regulations, and ordinances. We cherish a work environment that is inclusive and respects all differences.
