Job description

About the Position

At IQM, we build world-leading quantum computers for the well-being of humankind. We design systems to tackle computational challenges beyond the practical limits of classical machines. Our work sits at the edge of science and engineering. It's complex, demanding, and deeply collaborative. We turn deep research into reliable, full-stack systems that drive discoveries in fields like medicine, energy, and technology, reshaping how the world computes.

Join the team that gives quantum a heartbeat.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a strong pipeline for your accounts in Germany, finding and qualifying new opportunities in research, academia, government, and industries such as finance, defense, aerospace, pharma, chemistry, and energy.
  • Develop relationships with existing customers and find growth opportunities together with them.
  • Lead public tenders from first review to submission, shaping the offer together with internal teams.
  • Help customers navigate public funding programs to make quantum projects happen.
  • Meet and engage with customers regularly.
  • Represent IQM at conferences, industry events, and exhibitions.
  • Bring customer feedback and market insights back to our product and marketing teams to shape what we build next.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in sales and account management across hardware, software, telecommunications, storage, or application fields.
  • Background in high-performance computing (HPC) or data center industries.
  • Proven track record of growing business in a defined sales territory and closing complex deals in the tech industry.
  • Hands-on experience with public tenders and public funding, and with running deals that involve many stakeholders.
  • Confidence to build trust with both senior decision makers and technical experts.
  • Fluent German and English.
  • Willingness to travel around 40% of the time, mainly in Germany, with possible overseas trips from time to time.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of or experience in the quantum computing ecosystem.
  • Data center related certification, such as CDCS or ITIL.

We Offer

  • Full-stack quantum computing: From quantum hardware to software layers and beyond, we build across the full-stack.
  • High-performance playground: We aim high, and we know sustainable performance only works when life outside work does too-hybrid setups, flexible hours.
  • Never the smartest: You won’t always be the smartest person in the room. Neither will we. Expect to learn constantly - from each other and beyond with IQM’s Learning Hub, LinkedIn Learning, and a team-based L&D budget.
  • Approachable leadership: Flat hierarchy, direct access. Feel free to approach any leaders. They're friendlier than they look!
  • The sweet spot: Big enough to matter. Small enough to move fast. Growing between a startup and a corporation. We’re in the phase where top performers get noticed.
  • Bigger than IQM: Our people build know-how for the entire quantum ecosystem. We publish papers, run hackathons, and help shape a market that's still being defined.
