Business Development Manager

About PayU

PayU is an international payment service provider with a leading position in Poland and other European markets. The company provides businesses with secure, flexible, and easy-to-integrate solutions for accepting and managing online payments, connecting merchants with consumers and financial institutions.

PayU supports a wide range of payment methods, including payment cards, digital wallets, and locally preferred payment options, such as BLIK and fast bank transfers in Poland. Its offering also includes instalment payments and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL), cross-border payments, and recurring payment solutions. PayU serves businesses across industries and of all sizes - from small and medium-sized enterprises to leading e-commerce brands, as well as companies in the financial services and technology sectors.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to participate in acquiring and closing deals with large merchants in the EEA region (including Poland, Czech Republic, and Romania). You will focus on traditional e-commerce and regulated sectors such as gambling, gaming, cryptocurrencies, and brokerage. You will be responsible for the entire business cycle – from searching for opportunities through pipeline management and forecasting to negotiation – with the goal of fulfilling individual and company objectives. You will collaborate with internal business and technical teams to create competitive offers, build executive-level relationships, and mobilize resources to close deals.

Responsibilities

  • Search for and sell comprehensive PayU payment solutions within the EEA region to large companies in traditional e-commerce and other sectors such as gambling, gaming, crypto, and brokerage, which do not yet use PayU (pure hunting role).
  • Build and manage the business pipeline and create plans for successfully closing identified opportunities to meet the annual sales quota.
  • Actively participate in industry events and conferences to reach new potential clients and gather leads (several events per year across the EEA; occasional business trips).
  • Manage the entire sales process from cold calling and pipeline building to closing the deal.
  • Collaborate with other PayU teams to align the approach to large prospects and create attractive offers for targeted merchants.
  • Maintain records of business opportunities and merchants in the CRM, providing accurate and timely forecast data.
  • Personally responsible for meeting individual and shared goals (setting plans in advance, taking initiative in advancing projects, effective time management, and monitoring performance against deadlines and milestones).
  • Strong knowledge of the e-commerce payments sector, competitive activities, and market trends.
  • Identify opportunities to promote PayU's payment services to potential clients in defined verticals.
  • Establish and develop PayU relationships with potential clients, focusing on key decision-makers.
  • Strategically collaborate with internal and external business and technical teams to meet merchant expectations.
  • Responsible for setting sales strategies and mobilizing appropriate PayU resources to close deals.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in direct B2B sales (pure hunting, not account management).
  • Experience in selling PSP/e-payment solutions in e-commerce is a plus.
  • Proven track record in directly acquiring large merchants.
  • Goal-oriented with strong customer and business acumen.
  • Innovative thinking "outside the box" in meeting customer expectations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a sense of personal responsibility.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to create constructive tension in sales – using data analytics to gain insights that inspire merchants, teach new approaches, and show how to make or save money.
  • "Never give up" attitude and the ability to find alternative paths to achieve goals.
  • Connecting insights with key customer priorities and PayU differentiators.
  • Understanding customer value factors and the ability to reframe their view of their own business.
  • Conducting two-way communication.
  • Native Czech speaker, fluent in English.

We Offer

  • Full-time employment contract.
  • Benefits: meal vouchers and leisure activities contribution from Edenred.
  • Hybrid work model with a 2-day office policy.
  • Friendly team atmosphere based on cooperation, which will support you daily.
  • Work in an international organization operating in a rapidly changing industry.
  • Work in an international environment with daily use of foreign languages.
