Job description

About the Position

Business Development Representative

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States (On-Site)

At commercetools, real innovation starts with a strong foundation, and our team of builders, explorers, doers, makers, and problem-solvers is the engine of commerce innovation today. We power the next era of commerce for our customers, helping the world’s most ambitious companies experiment, scale, and grow without limits.

Responsibilities

As our Business Development Representative (BDR), you will serve as the crucial bridge between our Marketing and Sales teams. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Building pipeline through outbound prospecting - research, multi-channel outreach, and persistent follow-up across an account list
  • Qualifying inbound leads from marketing campaigns and converting them into sales-ready opportunities
  • Running qualification conversations that surface a prospect’s commerce challenges
  • Booking qualified meetings for Account Executives and setting them up to win
  • Representing commercetools at industry-leading events, from conference floors to executive dinners
  • Partnering with your AEs on account strategy and territory planning
  • Keeping Salesforce current so your pipeline tells an accurate story
  • Staying fluent in our platform, our market, and how we’re positioned against alternatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Curiosity about how businesses work, and the drive to understand a prospect’s world before pitching into it
  • Resilience - this is a role where most outreach goes unanswered, and the people who succeed treat that as information rather than rejection
  • Clear, concise communication, written and spoken; you can hold a business conversation with a senior stakeholder and keep it moving
  • Self-direction and consistency - nobody will tell you how to spend every hour, and the results compound over weeks
  • Comfort with learning new technology and systems
  • AI aptitude: a genuine curiosity for using AI tools to work smarter and more effectively, paired with a drive to learn and put them into practice in your role

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to Salesforce or a sales engagement tool like Gong Engage
  • Experience in commerce, retail, or B2B software
  • A background in a role where you persuaded people for a living - teaching, recruiting, hospitality, customer service, fundraising, account management

We Offer

  • Comprehensive health benefits for you and your dependents, including access to OpenUp for personalized mental health support
  • Learning and development opportunities including an annual learning budget, access to self-paced learning platforms and language training, personalized coaching, mentorship, and leadership programs
  • Family Leave Plus gives you additional fully paid weeks of parental leave on top of government-provided leave, so you can spend more time with your new addition
  • Our equity participation program allows you to share in our success

About the Company

At commercetools, we power the next era of commerce for our customers. Whether it’s AI-driven solutions that help enterprises make smarter business decisions, bridging digital and physical shopping experiences, or enabling entirely new ways for industries to connect with their customers, we help the world’s most ambitious companies experiment, scale, and grow without limits.

Here the best idea wins, not the loudest voice. You will have the tools, trust, and space to not only build the future of commerce, but to build your own.

Join us as we build the future of commerce together.
