About the Position

Category Manager - NPM Purchasing

We are looking for a Category Manager to join our NPM Purchasing team at Continental. This role is responsible for the worldwide strategic sourcing of a certain material/service field and its subcategories. The Category Manager will report to the Head of Global Category and steer the implementation of the respective Integrated Category Strategy.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the worldwide strategic sourcing of a certain material/service field and its subcategories.
• Reporting to the Head of Global Category.
• Steering the implementation of the respective Integrated Category Strategy.
• Creating added value for all Business Areas in terms of commercial, logistical, and technical enhancements.
• Supporting quality initiatives for internal customers.
• Prolonging payment terms.
• Optimizing warranty and liability.
• Ensuring the worldwide availability of materials and services.
• Enhancing data transparency and process improvements.
• Strengthening relationships with strategic Business Partners (internally and externally).

Requirements

• Academic degree in economics, engineering, or equivalent qualification.
• Proper experience with MS Office 365 programs and other relevant IT tools.
• Fluent skills in English language, written and oral; additional languages such as German and Spanish are beneficial.
• 3-5 years of Strategic Purchasing experience in Purchasing (or similar functions) in an international environment.
• Advanced experience in project management and working in projects with an international scope/environment.
• Good experience in conducting negotiations with a global responsibility.
• Knowledge of purchasing processes (and/or relevant to the field) description and optimization.
• International and intercultural competency as well as several years of work experience in an international environment.
• Working experience in negotiating and operating with different cultures and international teams (e.g., on purchasing issues).
