Description of the Position

In this role at Ubisoft Sherbrooke, you will lead a small game design team, creating and distributing tasks. You will ensure the team's performance, adherence to deadlines, and quality standards as defined by the project lead (CP) and/or production manager (PM).

Responsible for a portion of game development, you will supervise and validate the work of your team members. You will also ensure their development through coaching and training. Always attentive, you will ensure their motivation and well-being throughout the project.

Responsibilities

  • Create, prioritize, and assign tasks within your team considering deliverables + follow the work progress daily.
  • Act as a spokesperson for your team.
  • Organize and lead productive team meetings.
  • Study the game's story and gameplay to adequately identify its technical and artistic constraints and guide your team accordingly.
  • Keep the CP/PM informed of your team's task progress and propose corrective measures when necessary to achieve set objectives.
  • Anticipate potential conflict situations and propose solutions to the CP/PM regarding problem resolution within your team.
  • Offer technical and artistic mentorship to team members.
  • Participate in performance monitoring in collaboration with the CP/PM.
  • Coordinate the correction of bugs related to your team's work.
  • Participate in the recruitment of new team members and ensure their integration.

Requirements

What you bring to the team

  • A DEC in a field related to video games (or equivalent)
  • A certificate in project management or experience in the field (an asset)
  • 7 years of experience in the video game design field
  • Participation in at least one complete game production (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of technical constraints related to real-time, 3D engines, and level editors
  • Knowledge of databases (such as JIRA and Perforce) and the Office suite (an asset)
  • Leadership skills to build high-performing teams and delegate tasks effectively
  • Good time management and prioritization tactics benefiting your entire team
  • Resourcefulness and initiative leading to innovative solutions
  • Ability to manage stress and change

Nice to Have

  • Technical writing skills
  • Database management skills
  • Proficiency in Office suite
