Chief Development Officer / Head of Tech

About the Position

We are seeking a Chief Development Officer / Head of Tech to lead our technology strategy and platform development in cloud gaming.

About the Company

Our partner is a cloud streaming platform operating in the global market. Their services include high-load video delivery with minimal latency, proprietary cloud infrastructure, and partnerships with publishers, providers, and hardware manufacturers.

Role Objectives

• Lead and grow the cloud gaming development division.
• Focus on service architecture, streaming technologies, and product evolution.
• Define the technology strategy for the gaming service to ensure scalability, stability, and competitiveness.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the overall architecture of the cloud gaming service (streaming core, protocols, codecs, integration with client platforms).
• Define and implement the technical strategy for the next 3–5 years.
• Manage all development teams: backend, frontend, streaming, media processing, orchestration, R&D.
• Oversee the architecture of the gaming stack: virtualization, multi-VM management, CPU/GPU resource allocation, session isolation.
• Build solutions for high availability and scalability of the service to support MAU/DAU growth.
• Optimize latency and video quality by working with codecs (H.264/H.265, AV1, VP9) and protocols (WebRTC, HLS, DASH, RTMP).
• Implement CI/CD, DevOps practices, test automation, and secure release cycles.
• Set and monitor KPIs for performance, streaming quality, and SLA.
• Lead research and adoption of new technologies (AI/ML for stream optimization, adaptive algorithms, load prediction).
• Build and foster a strong engineering culture: training, mentoring, team building.
• Ensure information security and compliance with international standards. Collaborate with top management, investors, and partners.
• Develop disaster recovery plans; maintain SLA (99.9%+).
• Initiate R&D and drive technological innovation (including AI/ML for personalization and analytics).

Requirements

• 8+ years in IT and software development, including 5+ years in a role such as CTO/Head of Engineering/Chief Architect/Lead.
• Experience building high-load B2C platforms (streaming, SaaS, OTT, gaming).
• Deep expertise in:
  • Streaming protocols (WebRTC, HLS, DASH, RTMP)
  • Codecs and transcoding (H.264/H.265, AV1, VP9)
  • Orchestration and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Distributed systems and CPU/GPU virtualization
• Experience managing teams of 30+ engineers across multiple geographies.
• Ability to design service architecture from scratch and scale it to millions of users.
• Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD, DevOps, and QA processes in complex products.
• Ability to build and defend a technical strategy at the board level.

Nice to Have

• Experience applying AI/ML for stream optimization, recommendations, and predictive analytics.
• Previous experience in international startups, streaming, or cloud platforms.
• Experience in M&A and technical due diligence.
• English (B1/B2) for international teams and partners.
