About the Position

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join our innovative defense tech company. As a CTO, you will be responsible for shaping the product strategy, leading R&D teams, and driving technical excellence. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the development of cutting-edge solutions for the defense sector in Ukraine.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement the company's technical strategy.
• Manage the full development cycle from technical specifications to releases.
• Build, scale, and develop the R&D team (10+ people): recruitment, mentorship, and professional development.
• Implement AI/ML tools in the product and optimize processes using AI.
• Architectural planning: microservices architecture, modularity, integrations (API, WebSockets).
• Organize development processes (Scrum/Kanban), manage risks, and releases.
• Conduct technical interviews, code reviews, and maintain technical documentation.
• Interact with international partners, participate in negotiations, and presentations.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and work in closed environments.
• Propose optimization and automation of department processes.

Requirements

What We Expect

Technical Expertise

• Deep experience in backend development (PHP (Laravel), Python, JavaScript (preferably Vue.js)).
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, GitLab, Docker, AWS.
• Experience with databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ, or other queue systems.
• Understanding of SDLC, microservices architecture, API/WebSockets integrations.
• Basic understanding of AI/ML (models, algorithms, Data Science, integration into SaaS products).
• Experience organizing development using Scrum/Kanban, working with JIRA.

Leadership and Organizational Skills

• Managing the full development cycle, project planning, and execution.
• Building and scaling the R&D team, mentorship, and professional development.
• Conducting interviews, code reviews, and maintaining technical documentation.
• Excellent communication, delegation, systematic, disciplined, and responsible.

Education and Experience

• Higher technical education.
• Experience in senior technical positions (CTO, Head of Engineering, Team Lead) for 3–5 years.
• Practice in startups and/or R&D environments (creating products from scratch, implementing innovations).
• Experience managing teams of 10+ people.

Nice to Have

• Experience in miltech, security standards, and deploying products in closed environments.
• Deeper knowledge of AI/ML technologies and integrating AI into the development process.
• Experience in automating department processes using AI.
• Experience in launching and setting up large projects.
