About the Position

Civil Resident Engineer - Overhead Line (OHL)

This position is suited for an experienced civil engineering professional with a strong background in high-voltage infrastructure projects. Based in GOPA Tech’s Abu Dhabi Office, the role will support project teams in overseeing site activities, ensuring quality and safety compliance, coordinating with relevant stakeholders and authorities, and contributing to smooth project execution in a dynamic, multicultural environment.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for:

• Supervising all site surveys, installation, and inspection of civil works related to HV OHL works (400kV/220kV/132kV).
• Overseeing site surveys, trench excavation, cable trough installation, and inspection of civil works related to HV underground cable works (400kV/220kV/132kV).
• Supervising civil works for substation modifications related to bay extensions and electrical equipment container installation.
• Ensuring all works comply with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
• Maintaining strong involvement in site execution and coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Leading and coordinating all NOCs, permits, and inspections with relevant authorities.
• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during installation and commissioning.
• Maintaining accurate documentation and reporting for all site activities.

Requirements

The candidate should ideally have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in high-voltage OHL/substation projects (400kV/220kV).
• Strong knowledge of civil specifications and authority requirements for NOCs/permits.
• Familiarity with international standards and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
