About the Role

In addition to managing claims, this role will provide the opportunity to take on a varied and valuable position on our US Reinsurance Claims team providing support in formulating, developing, and implementing reinsurance account management and claims disposition strategies. Through our Asbestos, Pollution, and Health (APH) team, the role provides meaningful case and coverage analysis and allows for an active role in reinsurance claim resolution and disposition.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex reinsurance claims, including analysis and determination of liability, verification of claims against contracts, and resolution of disputes.
• Negotiate claims disposition and participate in mediation and/or arbitration.
• Participate in audits and provide insight on appropriate reserving to assist the deal team in pricing.
• Create and manage cost-effective litigation budgets.

Requirements

• At least ten years of claims or legal experience, with strong casualty experience.
• Experience interpreting insurance contracts and coverage.
• Experience in handling latent direct insurance claims a plus; JD a plus.
• Ability and passion to manage a complex portfolio with critical analysis and innovative strategical thought.
• Leading by example in a Performance Culture that fosters a spirit of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Ability to identify areas of improvement, and a passion for implementing those.
• General knowledge of and/or exposure to other insurance disciplines i.e., contract wording, accounting, and underwriting.
• Confirmed ability to meet deliverables, implement plans, and conduct analysis.
• Excellent writing skills and proficiency in Excel.
• Data analytics skills and desire for further growth.

• Competitive salary range: $116,000 to $194,000 in Chicago, IL and Schaumburg, IL, and $128,000 to $213,000 in Armonk, NY.
