About the Role
We are looking for a Cloud Engineer who is passionate about cloud infrastructure, automation, and continuous improvement. You don't need years of experience to succeed in this role. What matters most is your technical foundation, curiosity, willingness to learn, and motivation to take ownership.
At Ohpen, a cloud-native fintech company, you'll help develop and improve the AWS infrastructure behind our modern core-banking platform, with a particular focus on data and database environments.
You'll join a small, collaborative team where your ideas are valued, you'll have room to grow, and your work will directly contribute to the reliability and scalability of our platform.
Responsibilities
- Join our Cloud Engineering database team and help maintain and continuously improve the infrastructure supporting Ohpen's core-banking platform.
- Work on projects that make our infrastructure more efficient, secure, and scalable.
- Improve AWS architecture, develop reusable Terraform modules, and create internal tools for managing infrastructure safely and independently.
- Help simplify infrastructure provisioning, streamline deployments, strengthen monitoring and observability, and identify potential issues before they affect production.
- Manage more than 100 Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL clusters, focusing on automation for backups, access management, security, performance, and cost optimization.
- Take ownership of infrastructure improvement projects, from identifying opportunities and designing solutions to implementing them in production.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, ideally working with AWS infrastructure in a production environment.
- Familiarity with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and experience with networking, Windows/Linux systems, and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
- Comfortable exploring generative AI tools to support daily work and reading/understanding code, such as Python or Bash.
- Comfortable using Git for version control.
- Proactive and independent, comfortable taking initiative while also knowing when to ask for help.
- Good communicator and team player, open to feedback, honest about what you don't know, and eager to develop your skills.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience with database management or administration (DBA).
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
