About the Position

Cloud Platform / Kubernetes Engineer

Location: Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland
Department: IT Engineering & Operations

Responsibilities

Build and manage Kubernetes platforms for enterprise clients, from multi-tenant setups to scaling over 100+ clusters.
Develop Internal Developer Platforms using tools like Backstage and Crossplane to enable self-service infrastructure provisioning for development teams.
Design Infrastructure as Code, GitOps workflows, and networking solutions, choosing the right tools such as Cilium, Istio, or classic gateway configurations.
Develop tooling in Go and Python to simplify the work of platform teams, from custom operators to CLI tools and admission webhooks.
Implement AI-assisted development tools like code assistants or automated code reviews to accelerate repetitive infrastructure tasks.
Work on diverse customer projects, gaining exposure to different architectures and challenges, with the ability to influence the projects you take on and adjust your technical focus as needed.

Requirements

Experience: Proven experience with Kubernetes in production environments, understanding the dynamics of clusters under real traffic.
Skills:
- Deep understanding of developer workflows to design internal developer platforms, golden paths, and self-service workflows.
- Experience implementing GitOps workflows and managing common challenges like drift, secret management, and multi-cluster synchronization.
- Proficiency in Go or Python for tooling and automation, with a focus on reusable platform components.
- Active use of AI-assisted development tools and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Languages: Very good German skills (at least C1 level), good English skills are a plus.
