About the Position
East Europe Foundation announces a competition for the position of lawyer. The role is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and will start in February 2024. This is a full-time, on-site position.
Responsibilities
- Development and negotiation with authorized representatives of EEF’s counterparties on contracts, additional agreements, memoranda, and primary documents.
- Legal analysis of individual document proposals, including contracts, additional agreements, memoranda, letters from EEF, and primary documents.
- Providing EEF, including participants of the EGAP Program, with written and oral legal consultations, recommendations, legal opinions, including on the execution of projects within the EGAP Program, on organizational and other legal issues of EEF’s ongoing activities.
- Legal support for the execution of projects within the EGAP Program.
- Representation of EEF’s interests in organizations, institutions, endeavors on matters requiring legal support and settlement.
- Providing legal expertise, legal advice, resolutions, legal documents regarding the current legislation of Ukraine and the drafting of legal statutes.
- Preparation of analytical materials on risk assessment based on adopting regulatory changes and their potential impact.
- Providing legal support for the protection of EEF’s rights and interests.
- Participation in the processing of appeals from individuals and corporations, and providing legal counsel in the preparation of draft responses to such appeals.
- Analysis of the judicial practice of creating and implementing contracts to develop appropriate proposals to eliminate perceived flaws and improve EEF’s performance.
- Work with state and foreign registers and databases.
- Submitting application requests for public domain information.
- Correspondence with EEF’s counterparties.
- Participation in working groups, meetings, and seminars.
- Preparation and arrangement of informational and analytical materials for events, reports, and presentations.
- Execution of other tasks related to the legal sphere for the execution of EEF’s initiatives.
Requirements
- Higher legal education, bachelor’s degree (or master’s degree in law).
- At least 3 years of respective experience in legal consulting.
- Confident PC and MS Office user.
- Mandatory fluency in the Ukrainian language, preferably English.
- Exceptional self-organization, independence, focus on the results, and willingness to learn.
- Efficient communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work in a team, be diligent and wise in performing the tasks.
- Ability to adapt to changes and successfully set and adjust priorities if needed.
