About the Position
We are looking for a highly motivated Configuration Management Engineer to join a modern automotive software organization and support our automotive clients with the development of software-defined vehicles.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring integrity, traceability, and consistency of software configurations across the entire development lifecycle. You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment, contributing to the evolution of a software factory with CI/CD, automation, and standardized engineering workflows. This position plays a critical role in enabling high-quality, always-releasable software, supporting engineering teams with robust configuration management strategies, processes, and tools.
Responsibilities
- Configuration Management & Governance: Define and maintain configuration management strategies, processes, and standards. Manage software baselines and configuration items (CIs) across development, integration, and release phases. Ensure consistency, integrity, and accessibility of configuration data.
- Version Control & Branching Strategy: Define and govern branching strategies and version handling processes for large-scale software development. Support teams in applying best practices for Git-based workflows (e.g., Git/Gerrit). Monitor and improve repository structures and versioning standards.
- Traceability & Compliance: Ensure end-to-end traceability across requirements, code, builds, and releases. Support compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASPICE, ISO 26262, cybersecurity regulations). Maintain and improve documentation structures and audit readiness.
- CI/CD & Automation: Integrate configuration management into CI/CD pipelines and automated workflows. Drive automation of configuration checks, traceability, and quality controls. Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize build, integration, and release processes.
- Process Development & Tooling: Develop and implement Configuration Management processes across engineering teams. Translate business needs into requirements for tools, systems, and workflows (incl. PLM/ALM environments). Support toolchain improvements and integration across development lifecycle.
- Participation in change management.
Requirements

Must have
- Proven experience in Configuration Management within software development environments.
- Strong understanding of: Software development lifecycle (SDLC), Version control and branching strategies (Git, preferably Gerrit), Change management processes.
- Strong CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Experience with traceability management in large-scale projects, Knowledge of requirements management and technical documentation standards.
- Experience defining and implementing CM processes and governance frameworks. Ability to translate business needs into system/tool requirements (PLM, ALM, or similar).
- Experience working with toolchains for software lifecycle management (e.g., Jira, Confluence, artifact repositories, PLM systems).
- Experience with automation of CM processes (scripts, pipelines, or tooling).
- Willingness to engage in technical topics and continuously learn new tools and technologies.
- Knowledge in some of the following tools are highly appreciated: ConfigHub, TC-PLM, CarWeaver, CoMo, Artifactory, Teamcenter, KDP.

- Experience embedded systems development.
- Familiarity with standards such as ASPICE, ISO 26262, or automotive cybersecurity frameworks.
