- Analysis, Deployment, and Implementation of AI Use Cases: framing and industrializing GenAI solutions, developing agents, multi-agent workflows, modernizing and automating business services and processes, etc.
Internship Topic:
Context
Generative AI consumes massive resources (water, energy, rare earths…) and generates potentially high variable operating costs (API LLM, GPU cloud, Copilot Credits…). Two converging pressures: financially, CIOs want to control AI costs and demonstrate ROI; socially, CSRD imposes increased transparency, and management sets digital sobriety objectives.
Wavestone Nantes won pioneering missions in 2025 on impact estimation, and a previous internship laid out measurement methods (EcoLogits, Boavizta, ADEME charts…). We must now go further: industrialize mitigation levers, link cost and footprint, and structure a unified FinOps + GreenOps service offering.
Objective of the Internship
Build Wavestone's repository of operational levers for reducing the costs and environmental footprint of AI systems (unified FinOps + GreenOps), and test it in real conditions.
Tasks to be Performed
Under the supervision of a consultant and the guidance of a manager, the intern may be required to perform some or all of the following tasks:
- Capitalize on existing estimation work: CodeCarbon, EcoLogits, Boavizta, Eco2AI, ADEME charts
- Establish a comprehensive matrix of mitigation levers: model choice (SLM), quantization, pruning, distillation, prompt caching, model cascading, routing, green scheduling, hosting provider choice
- Define an AI FinOps model: consumption tracking (tokens, credits, GPU-hours), internal rebilling, hard caps, budgeting
- Quantify the relative impact of each lever (€ and kgCO2eq) on a concrete use case (e.g., Cowork, RAG, agent)
- Build a reusable AI FinOps & GreenOps audit guide, with a dashboard for monitoring value / cost / footprint
- Test the guide on an internal POC or client mission and formalize actionable recommendations
- Contribute to commercial proposals and external pitches
