About the Position
We are seeking a Contract Staff Software Engineer to focus on WebCompat and Bug Triage for our team in Remote Canada. Your role will be pivotal in reducing Firefox’s WebCompat bug backlog by diagnosing and fixing site-breakage bugs, often with the assistance of AI.
Responsibilities
- Finish diagnosing, or verify the diagnosis of, long-tail WebCompat bugs.
- Write WebCompat interventions where appropriate.
- Write simple fixes (AI-assisted) and land them.
- Reproduce and triage incoming site-breakage reports.
Requirements
- Solid web development skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Comfort in debugging real-world site breakage.
- Fluency with browser devtools and cross-browser diagnosis.
- Comfortable using AI tooling to speed up diagnosis and fixes.
Preferred
- Knowledge of Gecko is a strong plus (but can be taught).
- Prior WebCompat or web-standards experience.
