About the Company

Projectcontroller, financial controller, business controller... What’s in a name? As a Controller at SWARCO, you are essentially all of these in one. You are the financial conscience of multiple regions and act as a sparring partner for our regional managers. You help them keep their projects manageable, predictable, and financially healthy. Behind every successful project is someone who ensures that the numbers align just as well as the execution!

You start your day with a cup of coffee (or tea, of course) and a glance at the latest figures. Quickly, something catches your eye. Although a project seems financially on track at first glance, your gut feeling tells you otherwise. You dive into the numbers, compare the forecast with what actually happens within the project, and identify where the deviation occurs. It's time to contact the project leader. Not to tell them what's wrong, but to determine together what's needed to keep the project financially in control...

For this, you are close to the operation and work closely with regional managers and project leaders. You analyze financial results, monitor budgets and forecasts, and critically assess project developments. If you see a deviation, you want to know where it comes from. If you expect a project to financially turn out differently than anticipated, you don't wait but take action.

The projects within your regions are quite diverse. From small service tasks to projects worth several million euros, regularly executed within larger framework contracts. This also means that you have many different projects under your care simultaneously.

Your role is broad. Besides project monitoring, you are involved in forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting. You monitor costs, invoicing, cash flow, and working capital, ensuring that projects are properly set up and closed financially. You also participate in project reviews and are increasingly involved in new projects and tenders. This gives you visibility into the entire financial process, from the start of a project to its final completion.

At the same time, this role is in full development. We want to increasingly move from monitoring and reporting to looking ahead, advising, and adjusting. This means there is plenty of room to take initiative and think about how we can further improve our financial processes, reports, and ways of working.

You are part of the control team at SWARCO and report to the Business Unit Controller. At the same time, you are explicitly part of the regions you work for. You can regularly be found at the various locations, know the projects and the people behind them, and are aware of what is happening. This combination makes this role interesting: you are in the middle of the operation, but always maintain your independent perspective from your financial responsibility.

Job Requirements

Who we are looking for

For this role, we are looking for someone who is ready for the next step in their career but still likes to have one foot in the operation.

Your strength? You combine analytical insight with a hands-on mentality. When action needs to be taken, you are the one who steps up. You easily switch between different tasks and know when to listen, when to advise, and when to be critical. With your sharp eye, you signal deviations before they become problems, without losing sight of the bigger picture. You seek cooperation, communicate easily with colleagues at different levels, and know how to convey financial information in a clear and convincing manner. Furthermore:

• Do you have a bachelor's or master's degree and a completed education in finance, business economics, or a similar field;
• Do you have several years of relevant work experience in control or a similar financial role;
• Experience within a project-driven organization is a must. Experience within engineering, installation, or infrastructure is a plus;
• Do you have excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written;
• Do you have a driver's license B and are willing to travel frequently throughout the Netherlands.
