Crash analysis (Stress Analysis) Engineer

About the Position

We are seeking a Crash Analysis (Stress Analysis) Engineer to join our high-performing engineering team supporting advanced aerospace and propulsion programs. This role is based in the Midlands and is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain LS-DYNA finite element models for crash and impact assessments.
• Perform structural simulations and analyze component and system behavior under dynamic loading conditions.
• Evaluate real-world load cases and identify potential failure mechanisms.
• Interpret simulation outputs and provide engineering recommendations.
• Produce technical reports and present findings to engineering stakeholders.
• Support design teams with simulation-led development activities.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of analysis methodologies and best practices.

Requirements

Required Skills

• Experience using LS-DYNA for explicit finite element analysis.
• Background in crash analysis, impact analysis, or dynamic structural assessment.
• Understanding of structural mechanics and finite element modelling techniques.
• Ability to interpret simulation results and communicate engineering findings effectively.

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with ANSYS.
• Knowledge of Whole Engine Modelling (WEM).
• Aerospace, propulsion, or gas turbine engineering experience.
• Experience assessing complex structures subjected to transient loading events.
