Job description

About the Position

CSA Engineer (Civil, Structural & Architectural)

We are seeking a detail-oriented CSA Supervision Engineer to join our construction supervision consultancy team in Vietnam. In this role, you will supervise civil, structural, and architectural works on site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, applicable standards, and project requirements. You will work closely with the project manager, contractors, designers, and client representatives to monitor construction quality, progress, and safety throughout construction and handover.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise civil, structural, and architectural works, including earthworks, foundations, reinforced concrete, steel structures, waterproofing, and architectural finishes.
  • Review contractors’ shop drawings, method statements, material submissions, and inspection and test plans, and provide comments or recommendations within the assigned scope of authority.
  • Inspect incoming materials and installed works to verify compliance with approved submissions, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct inspections, witness relevant tests, and verify readiness for acceptance, particularly for concealed works and critical construction activities.
  • Identify defects, non-conformities, and deviations from approved designs; issue inspection comments or non-conformance reports and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with MEP engineers, designers, and contractors to resolve technical queries and construction interface issues, referring design changes to the responsible designers for clarification and approval.
  • Monitor construction progress against the approved schedule and report delays, site constraints, and required recovery actions to the project manager.
  • Monitor contractors’ compliance with site safety requirements during CSA activities and promptly report unsafe conditions to the HSE team and project manager.
  • Maintain daily supervision records, inspection reports, photographic records, and quality documentation; contribute to regular progress reports and site coordination meetings.
  • Review as-built drawings and completion dossiers, conduct snagging and follow-up inspections, and support final acceptance and project handover.

Requirements

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
    • Relevant experience in site supervision of civil, structural, and architectural works, preferably for industrial or commercial projects.
    • A valid construction supervision practicing certificate relevant to the assigned scope is preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, quality control, and inspection and acceptance procedures for CSA works.
    • Familiarity with applicable Vietnamese construction regulations, codes, standards, and project specifications.
    • Ability to interpret design drawings and review shop drawings, method statements, material submissions, and inspection and test plans.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Revit and BIM coordination tools is an advantage.
    • Good understanding of coordination between CSA and MEP works, including construction interfaces and sequencing.
    • Strong practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify defects, assess site issues, and follow up on corrective actions.
    • Ability to prepare clear site reports, inspection records, non-conformance reports, and handover documentation.
    • Effective communication and coordination skills when working with clients, contractors, designers, and project teams.
    • Strong sense of responsibility, professional integrity, and commitment to construction quality and site safety.
    • English communication and technical reporting skills are an advantage.
