About the Position
Customer Engineer - Open Banking @ING Hubs Romania
We are looking for a passionate Customer Engineer to join our Open Banking team at ING Hubs Romania. This role is pivotal in developing and expanding ING's state-of-the-art payment and settlement services, focusing on delivering innovative solutions through APIs.
Responsibilities
- Advise and assist customers in designing, building, testing, and operating applications that use ING APIs and products available at developer.ing.com, with a focus on technical implementation and complex API integrations.
- Organize and conduct technical workshops and “deep-dive” sessions with customers, both virtual and on-site, to ensure that API integration and go live are a smooth and seamless experience.
- Advise and assist ING teams in designing their API, endpoints, requests, and responses based on the OpenAPI Specification and ensure design and implementation guidelines are met.
- Work hands-on with ING APIs to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer/partner environments.
- Use modern tooling and possibly sandbox environments to simulate and fix issues quickly.
- Create technical documentation on a variety of API-related topics, ranging from generic Get Started guides to more detailed articles/technical blog posts about API and security concepts contributing to Open Banking developer forums.
- Provide high-quality guidance for our customers and share best practices with the larger community worldwide and ensure implementations of the ING APIs remain compliant with regulations.
- Educate and mentor our developer support organization to enhance its efficiency and effectiveness and disseminate best practices in API usage for an excellent developer experience.
- Address major issues with internal ING teams for a resolution that is in the best interest of our customers.
- Act as voice-of-the-customer to feed back customer pains and gains to the ING platform and API teams.
Requirements
- Multiple years of experience as a technical field engineer in a customer-facing role.
- A high level of customer focus and ownership.
- Mastery in understanding and dealing with customer requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills for customers’ technical issues.
- Experience in doing code reviews and debugging client code.
- Proficient in making complex information accessible through writing.
- Certified technical writer or vast experience in technical writing of documentation.
- Proven ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-experts.
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts and emerge as a go-to person.
- Experience with software lifecycle, build tools, and architecting/developing software in various environments.
- Good understanding of API technology, OAuth, PKI/certificates/TLS.
- Experience with multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, and/or NodeJS) to give support on customer-specific problems. Knowledge of API runtime environments (e.g., Linux server) is a plus.
- Keep up-to-date on the latest technical developments relating to industry standards and best practices.
- Ability to identify opportunities for new platform features and API products.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong communication skills and easily engage with customers.
- Excellent English (and possibly additional European languages) verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaboration and cultural awareness to work in global teams, aligning with a distributed Global workforce.
