Job description
About the Position
Tieto Tech Consulting has long been delivering data and AI solutions to companies in Norway and internationally, with a data engineering environment of over 80 professionals. We are now building a new, specialized team within this environment, with a mandate to direct this expertise specifically towards medium-sized Norwegian manufacturing companies and industrial operations, from predictive models and quality control with machine vision to predictive maintenance and production optimization. We work closely with the customer from the initial mapping to the final solution, and we own the delivery and risk ourselves, not just the specification. You will join a small, flat team in the early phase of this initiative, where you will have ownership of both the technical direction and customer relations. In periods between projects in this team, you will work as a consultant on other assignments in Tieto Tech Consulting, on par with other consultants with us.
We are looking for someone who wants to help build modern data platforms, develop robust data pipelines, and - where relevant - train and deploy machine learning models in production, and translate data into real business value for customers in the manufacturing sector.
As a Data Engineer at Tieto Tech Consulting, you will work with
Platform and Infrastructure: Design and implement scalable data platform and architecture, beyond off-the-shelf solutions, with an emphasis on reusable solutions (infrastructure as code, templates, blueprints) that can be further developed from project to project.
Data Pipelines, Models, and Usage: Develop and maintain data pipelines and data models (daily, monthly, or ad-hoc), ensure correct data input and compliance with data governance, and - depending on background and interest - contribute to the development of predictive, classification, or computer vision models for industrial applications.
Customer Mapping and Delivery: Participate directly in the mapping phase with the customer - understand the data foundation, business goals, and target architecture - and help define concrete deliverables that the customer can actually use.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a curious and solution-oriented data developer who wants to work with modern data platforms and create value through data. You might recognize yourself in several of these points:
- You have at least two years of experience from a similar role.
- You program well in Python and/or SQL, and enjoy working with data.
- You have experience with data integration and data pipelines, preferably in technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar cloud-based platforms.
- You have worked with data migration, from extracting data from various sources to developing, operating, and monitoring robust data pipelines.
- If you have experience with machine learning, such as predictive models, computer vision, or anomaly detection, that's a big plus - but not a prerequisite.
- You have a higher education in technology, mathematics, engineering, or other relevant sciences. A master's degree is an advantage.
- Relevant certifications in Azure, Microsoft Fabric, or Databricks are positive, but we also value practical experience.
- You communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
- You speak Norwegian well, so you can collaborate and communicate directly with our customers.
As a person, we believe you thrive with broad ownership and like to work closely with the customer, not just on the code. You take responsibility for organizing your own work, are a team player who shares knowledge with colleagues, and have enough business understanding to translate a customer need into something concrete and deliverable. You are curious about new technology, but more importantly: you are comfortable in an early phase where processes and responsibilities are not always fully defined, and you contribute to shaping them yourself.
We Offer
We offer you professional development, meaningful projects, an open culture, and an excellent work-life balance! With us, you will have the opportunity to be part of the start of a new initiative in a growing, important sector - with a short path from idea to customer delivery. We emphasize professional development through courses, certifications, and professional groups, and you will be part of an inclusive and supportive environment, both socially and professionally. We offer a flexible hybrid work model, private health insurance, and good training opportunities, either at our own gym in Fornebu or through support for an external training center.
Were you inspired? We look forward to receiving your application!
Attach your CV or LinkedIn profile, and we will contact you. Interviews are held continuously, so we encourage you to apply already today. If you have questions about the position, contact the recruiting manager Eirik Lyngvi, [email protected]
