About the Position
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Responsibilities
- Managing and developing teams of engineers, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance.
- Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centers.
- Helping build and bring online new Data Centers.
- Constantly improving all our processes and procedures.
- Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors.
- Liaising with internal teams & management groups.
- Ensuring we adhere to and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all our Data Centers.
- Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of our Data Centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes.
- Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.
Requirements
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience in managing and troubleshooting network.
- 7+ years of operations management experience.
- Experience in major facilities incident management.
- Experience leading process improvements.
- Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of engineering work managing large-scale services experience, 3+ years of managing technical teams with significant personnel management experience and examples of developing engineers and building successful teams experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field, or 3+ months of network and operating system support experience.
- Experience in project management.
- 1+ years of Agile methods and processes experience.
- Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma concepts.
- Experience implementing change management successfully transitioning programs into large-scale operations.
- 3+ years of capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis or similar experience.
