About the Position
Data Engineer

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for implementing foundational data systems and developing cloud infrastructure to store, transform, and process data at scale. Always with security, reliability, and future growth in mind.
You use your communication skills as much as your technical skills. You explain your design choices, align stakeholders, and help client teams make confident and informed decisions about their data landscape. You will be surrounded by experts from diverse fields and learn from different environments and industries. It’s not always easy, but it is always rewarding.
You will work on projects of varying lengths. Some are three weeks, some are one year, most are in between. Every project is different, as is every client. You'll work in mixed teams of Xebians and client engineers, contributing directly to the backbone that powers data products.
When on-site with clients, you may encounter something very difficult to solve. At Xebia we work as a team and we've got your back. Everyone is just a message away and ready to help! We say People First, and we mean it.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For
- At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in English and Dutch.
- Familiarity with modern data (infrastructure) tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Spark, Flink, Iceberg, Docker, Terraform, and more.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Enjoyment in sharing knowledge and working in new environments.
What This Is Not For
- Those hesitant to take a proactive approach and bring ideas forward.
- Those who do not like working under pressure.
- Those who do not enjoy coding, scripting, templating, or working with open-source technology.
- Those who prefer to work alone and do not like explaining technical choices.
