About the Position
We're seeking an experienced Data Engineer with 10+ years in ETL Development and Data Warehousing to join our team in Sydney, AU. The role involves designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-scale data integration and data warehousing solutions within the banking domain.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using Informatica PowerCenter, IICS, and IDMC.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
- Develop source-to-target mappings, technical specifications, and operational documentation.
- Perform data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and data quality checks.
- Optimize ETL workflows, SQL queries, and database performance.
- Implement and support data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and reporting solutions.
- Manage job scheduling and monitoring using Control-M and AutoSys.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support activities.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, analysts, and cross-functional teams.
- Support Agile delivery processes including estimation, sprint planning, and release activities.
- Contribute to data governance, data quality, and automation initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL Development, Data Warehousing, or related roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter, IICS, and IDMC.
- Extensive experience in ETL design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL with hands-on experience in Teradata and Oracle databases.
- Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, Dimensional Modelling (Star/Snowflake schemas), and Data Modelling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical).
- Experience in data profiling, data quality, data governance, data validation, and reconciliation.
- Proven expertise in ETL and SQL performance tuning and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Control-M and AutoSys scheduling tools.
- Experience with Git/BitBucket, JIRA, and Confluence.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and release management processes.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the Banking and Financial Services domain is highly preferred.
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Prompt Engineering) is desirable.
