We are currently strengthening the team of one of our clients with the following profile:

Data Engineer – Hybrid (Lisbon)

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data integration processes using ETL/ELT tools (Semarchy, Stambia, Talend, DataStage, or similar).
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake).
• Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot jobs using VTOM or Virtual-M (or comparable job orchestration/workload automation tools).
• Implement data warehousing concepts, data quality, data lineage, and metadata management.
• Automate and process data using UNIX/Linux scripting (shell scripting, awk, sed, Python as a plus).
• Solve problems, debug, and troubleshoot data-related issues.
• Communicate effectively with French-speaking stakeholders and teams (French is a plus).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Hard Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools.
  • Proficient SQL skills; experience with relational databases.
  • Experience with VTOM or Virtual-M.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux scripting.
  • Data engineering mindset: knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data quality, data lineage, and metadata management.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French-speaking is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud data platforms (GCP) and cloud-native ETL tools.
• Familiarity with data governance, data cataloging, and security practices.
• Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop).
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and DevOps practices for data pipelines.
