Data Engineer with GCP – fintech sector (f/m/x)

Join Sii and work with one of Europe’s leading fintech scale-ups. We are currently looking for a Data Engineer to join Sii and contribute to a long-term project delivered for a Copenhagen-based fintech that’s redefining how businesses manage company spending, empowering over 40,000 organizations across Europe with smart cards and real-time financial insights. In this role, you’ll operate at the intersection of data and product engineering, building reliable, low-latency data pipelines that directly power customer-facing features in a modern, event-driven architecture.

Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining product-serving data pipelines on GCP that power customer-facing applications and services, ensuring high reliability, scalability, and performance
• Developing and optimizing ingestion, transformation, and serving layers using BigQuery, Airflow, dbt, and Python to support real-time and near-real-time data consumption
• Contributing to event-driven data platforms, including streaming ingestion, data modeling, and data contract implementation to ensure consistency and reliability at scale
• Partnering closely with backend, platform, and product engineering teams to deliver data products that directly support application functionality and customer experiences
• Owning pipeline observability, monitoring, alerting, and operational excellence, proactively identifying and resolving issues impacting production systems and end users
• Driving best practices in data engineering, including testing, CI/CD, documentation, lineage tracking, and performance optimization across the data platform

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer in cloud-based environments
• Hands-on experience with modern GCP-native data infrastructure, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, and other managed services
• Familiarity with building and owning production-grade data pipelines in a product engineering environment
• Strong Python engineering skills, with the ability to operate effectively at the intersection of data platforms and product/backend systems
• Proven experience designing and maintaining reliable, scalable data pipelines using Airflow and dbt, with a focus on data availability, quality, and performance for customer-facing products
• Exposure to streaming or event-driven architectures using Pub/Sub, Kafka, or similar technologies; solid understanding of real-time and near-real-time data processing requirements
• Familiarity with event schemas, data contracts, and data governance practices; understanding of schema evolution and its impact on downstream consumers and applications
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, with end-to-end ownership from design through delivery and ongoing operational support
• Experience working with financial, payments, compliance, or other regulated datasets, with a strong focus on data accuracy, lineage, and auditability
• Fluent English, both written and spoken
• Residing in Poland required
