About the Position
Position: Data Platform Engineering Manager (Cloud)
Office Location: Warszawa
Work Model: Hybrid (minimum 1 day per week in the office)
About the Role:
This is an opportunity for an experienced Data Engineering Manager or Technical Lead who still wants to stay close to technology while developing leadership skills and having a real impact on the architecture and strategy of the data platform development.
In this role, you will be responsible for both the technical development of the Data Platform and for leading the team and refining engineering processes.
Responsibilities Breakdown:
- 50% - Technical work (Hands-on Data Engineering)
- 25% - Team management
- 25% - Development of processes and work organization
Team: 9 Data Engineers (Warszawa and Barcelona)
Responsibilities
- Designing and developing a modern data platform operating in a cloud environment
- Co-creating the Data Platform architecture and long-term development strategy
- Designing scalable data pipelines and solutions based on Lakehouse, Data Mesh, and Event-Driven Architecture
- Building and developing real-time data processing and CDC-based solutions
- Ensuring high availability, performance, security, and quality of the data platform
- Defining and implementing Data Governance and Data Engineering best practices
- Developing team competencies through mentoring, coaching, and technical support
- Close collaboration with architects, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders in implementing global initiatives
- Participation in technology selection and architectural decisions impacting platform development
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Data Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in managing or technically leading a Data Engineering team
- Practical experience in designing and developing large data platforms in a cloud environment
- Experience with one of the cloud platforms: GCP (preferred), AWS, or Azure (for AWS/Azure – willingness to work with Google Cloud Platform)
- Very good knowledge of SQL and Python
- Experience with DBT or Dataform
- Practical knowledge of Data Warehouse and Lakehouse solutions
- Experience with BigQuery or Snowflake
- Practical experience in building pipelines based on Event-Driven Architecture and CDC
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Experience in implementing Data Governance and data security solutions in a cloud environment
- Experience in working with the business and managing stakeholder expectations in an international environment
- Very good knowledge of English at least at level B2 (preferred C1)
Additional advantage:
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Data Analytics (BigQuery, Dataproc, Datastream)
- Experience with Data Mesh and Kappa architectures
- Experience working with Agile methodologies
