About Doctolib

At Doctolib, we’re reinventing the daily lives of health professionals and empowering people to live healthier across Europe. More than 3,000 Doctolibers across France, Germany, Italy, the UK, and the Netherlands are building a new generation of AI-powered technologies and services, trusted by 580,000 health professionals and over 100 million patients every day.

AI is at the heart of how we build and how we work. At Doctolib, AI fluency is a core skill for every team member: we foster a culture leveraging AI to drive efficiency, quality, and impact at scale.

About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Design Systems to join the Brand and Design team at Doctolib. Your mission will be to ensure every Doctolib product surface is built on a consistent, high-quality design foundation. You will own Oxygen, Doctolib's design system - much more than a component library. Oxygen is how we deliver our brand identity consistently throughout the product and the critical infrastructure that ensures design quality at scale across an AI-first development environment. With over 50 designers and engineers building across multiple markets and product surfaces, your work will directly shape the experience of more than 90 million patients and 400,000 healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Set the multi-year vision and roadmap for Oxygen, connecting the dots across engineering, design, and brand teams. Translate system health into business impact and own the investment strategy for the teams, tools, and governance that support it.
  • Establish cross-functional governance across Design, Product, Engineering, and Brand teams, defining contribution models, change management processes, and the standards other teams are expected to follow.
  • Own design output quality across the product, ensuring that AI-generated interfaces are coherent, consistent, and on-brand at every touchpoint across the company.
  • Define and drive cross-organizational adoption, measuring adoption rate, component coverage, and contribution velocity, and connecting those metrics to product team speed and quality.
  • Manage and grow a team of designers, product people, and engineers, setting career paths, a high bar for craft, and hiring for the roles the system needs next.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product design or design systems, with a proven track record of scaling a mature, complex system across multiple product teams or lines of business.
  • Engineering fluency: you understand the technical architecture of a design system, how platform teams operate, and the latest best practices in AI-first software engineering as it relates to design systems.
  • Senior stakeholder management skills, with the ability to negotiate priorities with leadership at Director level and above across large, distributed organizations, and drive change management at scale.
  • Data-informed and outcome-oriented approach: you measure system health in real metrics (adoption rate, handoff defect rate, contribution velocity) and connect those numbers to product quality and business outcomes.
  • Experience in a regulated, enterprise, or healthcare-adjacent context where accessibility (WCAG), localization (i18n, RTL), and multi-market constraints are critical to design systems.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice to Have

  • Experience owning large-scale change management programs across cross-functional organizations.
  • Speaking additional European languages, such as French, German, or Italian.

We Offer

  • A Deutschlandticket (Germany-wide public transport pass) fully paid for by Doctolib.
  • 28 vacation days + 1 additional day for each full calendar year of employment (up to a maximum of 30 days).
  • Work from abroad for up to 10 days per year thanks to our flexibility days policy.
  • Company health insurance with great supplementary benefits through our partner Allianz.
  • Company pension scheme (bAV) through Allianz with an employer subsidy of 40% (15% within the probationary period).
  • The Doctolib Parent Care program, which includes one month additional parental leave and much more.
  • Enrollment in Doctolib's long-term employee value sharing plan called DoctoGrowth.
  • Free mental health and coaching services through our partner Moka.care.
  • Subsidized sports membership through our partner Urban Sports Club.
  • A flexible workplace policy offering both hybrid and office-based mode.
  • Healthy snacks, regular breakfast buffet, and a subsidized meal benefit.
  • Support for caregivers and workers with disabilities, including adaptation of the remote policy, extra days off for medical reasons, and psychological support.
  • Relocation support in case of international mobility.
  • Access to the best AI tools for coding, development, and dedicated training.
