About the Position

We are excited to partner with a pioneering, profitable startup that is fundamentally reshaping online security for the AI era. Their mission is to build the "Stripe for Trust"-an API-first platform serving billions of real-time requests for world-class companies.

As the internet is being rebuilt by AI, the old model of "bots vs. humans" is obsolete. Our client is building the foundational layer for this new reality, helping developers distinguish between legitimate AI agents and sophisticated abuse. They are seeking a strategic, hands-on infrastructure leader to architect the hyper-scale systems that will power the future of online trust. This isn't just another infrastructure role.

You will be the technical authority responsible for re-architecting the core components of a system built to handle 100x growth. Your mission is to design and build a rock-solid, multi-region, low-latency infrastructure capable of serving tens of billions of API requests with unparalleled reliability and performance. You will not only build the future of the platform but also be its technical voice in high-stakes conversations with enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve our core systems (Ruby on Rails, Kafka, Docker) for massive scale and reliability.
• Develop and execute a long-term technical roadmap for our infrastructure.
• Serve as the technical authority on our platform's reliability and scale in late-stage sales conversations.
• Own and maintain our security and compliance strategy.
• Participate in the on-call rotation with a focus on building systemic solutions to eliminate recurring issues.

Requirements

• A True Startup Mindset: You thrive on autonomy and have significant exposure to the demands of rapid scaling. You can pivot quickly, manage competing priorities, and own projects from concept to completion without needing heavy oversight.
• Deep, Production-Level AWS Expertise: This is critical. We need to see a proven track record of designing, building, and re-architecting complex distributed systems in a multi-region AWS environment. Your real-world production experience is what matters, not certifications.
• Mastery of Database Scaling: You have hands-on, production experience scaling high-throughput databases. Our stack includes PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Aerospike, and Redis, and we need someone who understands the trade-offs and scaling strategies for each.
• Passion for Low-Latency Systems: You understand what it takes to build and maintain high-performance, low-latency APIs. Direct experience with edge deployments is a major plus.
• Pragmatic SecOps Experience: Security is at the core of what we do. You must have practical experience implementing security best practices, including running vulnerability scans, managing penetration tests, and building systems that meet compliance standards like SOC-2 by design.
