Job description

About the Position

Are you passionate about shaping the future of workplace technology? Do you love the idea that the decisions you make today will define how thousands of colleagues experience their digital workplace tomorrow? If you enjoy hands-on technical work with real strategic impact, this could be the role for you.

About the Role

As our Digital Workplace Endpoint Hardware Certification Engineer, you will be at the heart of defining which endpoint devices are approved, supported, and deployed across our global environment. From laptops and desktops to peripherals, docking stations, and collaboration hardware - you will ensure every device in our portfolio is secure, reliable, sustainable, and truly fit for the way people work today and in the future.

This is a role where structured engineering thinking meets real-world impact. The standards you help define will directly shape the digital experience for thousands of colleagues worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the hardware certification lifecycle for endpoint devices including laptops, desktops, peripherals, docking stations, and selected workplace collaboration hardware
  • Validate drivers, firmware, BIOS/UEFI settings, and operating system compatibility to ensure device stability, security, and supportability across the enterprise environment
  • Design and execute integration, compatibility, and user experience testing across platforms such as Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, Windows Autopilot, and Microsoft Entra ID
  • Maintain and evolve the approved hardware catalogue, ensuring standards remain scalable, secure, cost-effective, and aligned with business and workplace needs
  • Collaborate with OEMs, technology suppliers, and internal teams to manage certification requirements, review product roadmaps, resolve technical issues, and assess emerging technologies
  • Support hardware lifecycle planning by tracking market trends, vendor roadmaps, device availability, sustainability considerations, and evolving workplace requirements
  • Use endpoint analytics, incident trends, and operational feedback to assess device reliability, performance, and user experience
  • Identify opportunities to automate testing, validation, reporting, and documentation to improve consistency and reduce manual effort
  • Partner with IT operations, security, procurement, workplace services, and business stakeholders to ensure hardware standards are practical, supportable, and aligned with organizational goals

About the Team

We in Digital Workplace (DWP) set out to make it easy for more than 14,000 employees to seamlessly connect with people, ideas, and expertise - within and beyond Swiss Re.

Our team is built around Microsoft 365, Workplace AI solutions, and related services - spanning design, architecture, development, integration, and orchestration across teams and internal partners. We believe the key to success lies in deeply understanding the business needs of our internal clients, identifying where technology can add real value, and focusing on how people will adopt and embrace change.

To support this, we are continuously redefining the way we work. DWP is an early adopter of agile methodologies and agile leadership within Swiss Re - and we're proud of it. We are a diverse, passionate team of experts who genuinely welcome professionals who bring curiosity, drive, and experience to help us deliver world-class solutions. Come join us on our journey!

About You

You are a curious, structured, and hands-on technology professional with experience in enterprise endpoint hardware, workplace technology, or device lifecycle management. You enjoy practical technical testing, troubleshooting, and certification work, and you understand how hardware decisions ripple out to affect security, operations, cost, sustainability, and the overall employee experience. You thrive in collaborative environments and bring both the technical depth and the communication skills to turn engineering decisions into reliable enterprise standards.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Proven experience evaluating, testing, certifying, or supporting enterprise endpoint hardware such as laptops, desktops, peripherals, docking stations, or collaboration devices
  • Strong knowledge of device drivers, firmware, BIOS/UEFI configuration, operating system compatibility, and hardware lifecycle management
  • Hands-on experience with modern endpoint management and deployment platforms, ideally including Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, Windows Autopilot, and Microsoft Entra ID
  • A structured approach to testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and technical decision-making, with the ability to translate complex findings into clear, actionable standards
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, security, procurement, vendor, and business stakeholder communities

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, it would be helpful to bring practical awareness or experience in the following areas:

  • Automation or scripting using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or similar to streamline testing, reporting, or validation activities
  • Endpoint analytics, Power BI, Excel, or other reporting tools to assess device performance, reliability trends, user experience, or total cost of ownership
  • Modern endpoint security concepts such as Secure Boot, TPM, BitLocker, Microsoft Defender, firmware security, or hardware vulnerability management
  • Sustainability, circular IT, accessibility, ergonomics, or environmental certifications such as EPEAT, Energy Star, or TCO Certified
  • Working with OEMs, hardware vendors, or technology suppliers on product evaluations, technical issues, roadmap discussions, or certification requirements
  • Microsoft 365, Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, VDI, or cloud-managed endpoint architectures
  • Cross-functional initiatives involving IT operations, engineering, procurement, security, workplace services, or business stakeholders
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the curiosity to explore new technologies and the discipline to ensure solutions are stable, secure, and supportable at scale

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a global enterprise environment, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector
  • Familiarity with Regulatory, Governance, and Risk Management frameworks and methodologies
  • Experience working in agile SCRUM methodology

We Offer

  • Base Salary: EUR 42,000 - EUR 70,000 (for a full-time role)
  • Performance-based Variable Compensation
  • Hybrid Work Model: In-office at least 50% of the time
